Wo(men), we'll give you R100 if you read this + listen to the song.

What does Women’s Day (9 August) mean to you?
- To the girl who was circumcised, Women’s Day is likely the dream of a very different future (1 in every 20 women on the planet have suffered FGM)
- To the girl who is a head of state, Women’s Day is likely a reminder of how far we have come (not long ago her abilities were completely overshadowed by her identity)
- To the girl whose career was stripped away by the Taliban, Women’s Day is likely a reminder of how quickly we can regress (where her identity now overshadows her abilities)
- To the judge who witnesses the sickening frequency of domestic violence, Women’s Day is likely a reminder of the primal nature of physical strength
- To the father of daughters in a home that celebrates the individual (over identity), Women’s Day is likely a day to revel in all that is unique between women and men in the house
- To the girl who is 10 years old, who in her short life, has only been treated with respect and who views her gender as her greatest asset, Women’s Day is likely a confusing day, begging the question, why do we need a day?

No woman is captured by all women. No man is captured by all men. Know that stereotyping and grouping people together based on their identities is convenient and often necessary. But never forget that every person is an individual and can never be overshadowed by their identity. Think carefully today before you use the word 'women'.

This song was written for another reason many years ago but today, crank up the volume and listen to it as if it was written for Women’s Day. We all have a voice!

Once you (man or woman) have read this and listened to the song please reply via email and we will give you a R100 voucher (valid till the end of this month - 31 August). These vouchers can be used towards any Enmasse massage.

Have a great holiday. Have a great massage.

According to trusted Wikipedia, the belly of the whale represents a willingness to undergo a metamorphosis. We would like to think a 60 (or better yet 90) minute massage has the ability to transform you!

Not only did Shakespeare’s words “Beware the Ides of March” stick, they branded the phrase—and the date, March 15—with a dark and gloomy connotation. It’s likely that many people who use the phrase today don’t know its true origin. In fact, just about every pop culture reference to the Ides—save for those appearing in actual history-based books, movies or television specials—makes it seem like the day itself is cursed.

But the Ides of March actually has a non-threatening origin story. Kalends, Nones and Ides were ancient markers used to reference dates in relation to lunar phases. Ides simply referred to the first new moon of a given month, which usually fell between the 13th and 15th. In fact, the Ides of March once signified the new year, which meant celebrations and rejoicing.

Our perception of mental space moves in parallel with our perception of physical space. Spaces with high ceilings instill a willingness in people to explore and to take a big brush abstract view of the world.

The design writer William Lidwell dubbed this phenomenon the Cathedral Effect. The central nave of many of the great cathedrals of the world, especially those built in Europe in the Middle Ages, are extraordinarily tall—as high as 156 feet. It’s safe to say that the people who conceived and built these structures understood the effects of extreme vertical space implicitly, and designed accordingly.

Welcome the the Enmasse Cathedral 💙💙💙
