WCET 2016

WCET 2016 21st WCET Biennial Congress entitled “Embrace the circle of Life” in Cape Town South Africa, from 13 to 16 March 2016.

Dear Colleagues

On behalf of the WCET 2016 Local Organising Committee, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 21st WCET Biennial Congress entitled “Embrace the circle of Life” in Cape Town South Africa, from 13 to 16 March 2016. The Cape Town International Convention Centre, a modern and well planned facility, will certainly provide an interactive venue for stimulating scientific exchange. This congress will give us the opportunity to embrace new ideas on stoma-, wound- and continence management, empowering us to render a professional service to those in need of special care. Papers will be presented in the form of plenary sessions, symposia and posters, which will all include superb scientific material. We hope that you will enjoy the beauty that Cape Town has to offer and that your interaction with your colleagues from many different countries will stimulate a creative exchange of ideas and will prove to be personally very rewarding. We look forward to welcoming you to Cape Town, South Africa! Kind Regards

Monica Franck

Some important logistical information with regards to transport:

Please remember you have to arrange your own transport from the Cape Town International Airport to the various hotels. There are a few options:

1) Arrange a dedicated transfer with Quality Touring Service. robin@qualitytouringservices.co.za

2) Catch a taxi - there are taxi services available if you leave the departure halls. You do not have to pre-book. If you cannot find a taxi you can go to the Information desk who will help you find one.

3) Get an Uber Taxi (yes Uber is active in Cape Town)

4) Use the My Citi Bus but please check the times first. The bus does not start before 06h00/6am over the weekend and the last one leaving the airport is at 21h30/9.30pm (over the weekend). We would recommend that the latest you leave on a bus from the airport is at 18h00/6pm. You will then arrive in the city when it is still light and it will be easier to find your hotel.

The terminals are just outside the airport building. You will have to buy a bus ticket and load it with some money. The bus from the airport goes to the Civic Centre. At the Civic Centre you have to catch another bus to go to your hotel. Please see more detail on routes and time tables here.www.myciti.org.za

Please remember to swipe your card when you enter AND exit the bus otherwise you will be penalised. More money can only be loaded onto the cards at major stops such as Civic Centre and the Waterfront.

There is a stop right in front of the CTICC (yellow line - 104) which will help delegates staying at Capetonian, Southern Sun Cullinan, Southern Sun Waterfront and the Westin. Delegates staying at City Lodge can also get onto this ssame bus but get off one stop later at Amsterdam. The T01 Bus (red line) stops at Thibault Sqaure (also a major station). This will be a good one to take to Hollow on the Square.

Here is a good link to an interactive map.

MyCiTi is Cape Town's convenient, reliable, scheduled, affordable bus service.

Our website has been up and running for more than a week now.

Please note that the website is totally safe and no personal information has been compromised.Herewith an official statement from the website operators:

''The site issues on the SAVCA2016 congress website were as a result of a script error in one of the modules used on the website that was not correctly updated and resulted in the hosting server picking this up as a malicious threat, and subsequently shutting off the website to prevent unauthorised access. Every step has since been taken to restore and secure the website.

On the issue of personal data being compromised, this did not and will NEVER happen as our registration and abstract system sit COMPLETELY SEPARATE from the website and as a result, registration and other personal details are not saved anywhere on the website, but rather sent to our in house registration and abstract system. This measure is put in place to ensure that no delegate information is available online and to avoid unauthorised access and use of this information.''

We are looking forward to receiving more registrations.
Do not miss WCET2016!

It is less than four months before the congress. Accommodation is one of the critical things that you have to look at now.
If you have not made any accommodation arrangements yet, now is the time! We have block bookings at reduced rates, but unfortunately due to very strict terms and conditions by the hotels, we need to start releasing these accommodation blocks from end November. March is.a very busy month in Cape Town. Once we release the block bookings, it will be very difficult to get accommodation close to the CTICC at a reduced rate. It is therefore imperative that you make your accommodation arrangements as soon as possible!
