Lao Kung was started in 2002 by Arnold Erasmus, mainly as a Tui-Na practice. "Lao Kung", pronounced "Lao Gong" roughly translates as "place of work" and is the acupuncture point/chakra in the centre of the palms, which seemed appropriate for a Tui-Na practice, as massage is mainly done with your hands. In 2006 the emphasis of the practice shifted and Lao Kung now specializes in acupuncture and moxibustion treatments as well as Tai Chi and Chi Kung instruction. After being situated in Observatory for six years the practice moved to Kenilworth in 2013. The new venue has more rooms available and allows for improved business hours. Arnold Erasmus also runs donation based Tai Chi classes in Pinelands for the upliftment of the local and surrounding community.
