Remex Parklands

Presentation: 4/5 the platter was presented well and it came with extras like guacamole
Value for money: unable to say as they were part of a platter but they were of a good size
Coating: 4/5 propper Mexican style deep fried pastry type coating, nice and thin so it wasn't too oily
Insides: 3/5 a mixture of cheese and cream cheese
Heat: 2/5 the ideal heat for me where you can actually taste all the flavours without dying

John dory's:

Let me just say these were so hot I couldn't even enjoy or finish them.

Presentation: 2/5 I mean plonk it on a plate and done
Value for money: 2/5 at R49 for 3 rather small ones
Coating: 3/5 tasty and thin but nothing wow
Insides: 2/5 that type of cheese mixture that tents to split a bit
Heat: 5/5 they will haunt you the next day

So they aren't technically chilli poppers but they're a deconstructed delicious takeout version! Burger King chilli cheese bites.
Personally I love them, what's your opinion?

Who's eating chilli this weekend? (Not me because I'm poor but if you are we need to hear about it)

Here's an idea for a chilli popper you can make at home without braving a deep fry machine. Just cut your chilli in half, fill with whatever makes you happy, top with bread crumbs and whack in the oven.
Tried it? Show us!

The pickled pepper at route 44:

Presentation: 4/5 as these are takeaway the container was convenient and you get serviettes etc. Oh and they even cut them in half
Value for money: 2/5 at R17 a popper they are pricey for the size
Coating: 4/5 crispy tasty all good. That sweet chilli dipping was nice
Insides: 3/5 more cheese than cream cheese and I feel they could have been a bit more melted. They tended to drip chilli juice all over while you try to eat them
Heat: 1/5 not hot at all
Other: these actually come in a whole lot of flavours, some had prawn etc. So that's always fun.

Hi to all on this overcast Sunday. If you go out this week and chow some jalapeño poppers please be the first to grace this pages inbox with your review of them. It doesn't matter if the place has been reviewed before either.

Saints Burger Joint (Eden on the Bay)
RATING:
Presentation: 4/5 pretty fancy looking but a bit burnt and although the red stuff looks good it's difficult to get on your jalapeño
Heat: 1/5 a super mild batch (previously I have nearly had my head blown off by these so it's batch dependant)
Value for money: 4/5 works out to R13.75 per popper and these were decently sized
Stuffing: 2/5 stuffed with feta and sun dried tomato relish although it had sort of split and you couldn't taste the tomato at all.
Batter: 3/5 it was different to the traditional plain batter but a bit oily and burnt

Other: we have eaten these at Saints a few times and what you get is always a surprise, sometimes hot sometimes not. Their sizes vary too.
