Today is World Cancer Day.
For many South Africans, cancer isn’t a headline or a statistic — it’s a diagnosis, a loved one, a long road of treatment, recovery, and uncertainty.
Physiotherapy plays a quiet but important role along that road.
We help people manage pain, fatigue and stiffness during and after treatment. We work with those living with lymphoedema, nerve damage, reduced mobility, breathlessness, and the physical toll cancer takes on daily life. Sometimes the goal is strength. Sometimes it’s simply making movement feel a little less hard.
Cancer care isn’t only about survival — it’s about quality of life, dignity, and function. Physio is one small part of a much bigger team, but it can make a meaningful difference in helping people stay active, independent, and connected to their bodies during a very difficult time.
Today we honour those living with cancer, those who’ve lost loved ones, and those walking this journey alongside them.
If this is your story, you’re not alone.
