🇿🇦✨ Big News for South Africans Abroad! ✈

Starting 1 November 2025, South Africans living overseas will be able to receive their new passports right at their doorstep — no more second embassy visits! 🏠📦

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has announced a door-to-door passport delivery system for expats applying through global service centres — a first in SA’s history.

💡 What this means for you:
✅ No more long embassy queues or multiple trips
✅ Processing times reduced to about 5 weeks
✅ Delivery within 24–72 hours once issued
✅ Delivery cost: $30–$60 (R520–R1 040) depending on location

This initiative, announced by Minister Dr Leon Schreiber in The Hague, will first roll out to South Africans abroad — and could later extend to applicants within South Africa.

From 1 October 2025, all foreign travellers must complete and submit the e-Arrival Card online within 72 hours before arrival.

🆕 Big changes for travellers to Europe!

The new Entry/Exit System (EES) will gradually start operations on 12 October 2025. This new automated digital system will replace traditional passport stamping for non-EU nationals visiting the Schengen Area (including popular destinations like France, Spain, Italy, and Germany).

Here’s what’s changing 👇
✅ Faster and more modern border checks
✅ Increased security across the Schengen Area
✅ Digital record of your travel data (biometric + passport info)

🧳 When you arrive at a Schengen border, your fingerprints or photo will be scanned — and that’s it! The system will automatically record your entry and exit.

💡 Tip: You can pre-register your data via a self-service kiosk or a mobile app (if available) to speed up the process.

📅 Full implementation expected by 10 April 2026.

🚨 Important Update for U.S. Visa Applicants 🚨

The U.S. Department of State has released new rules (effective Sept 6, 2025) for nonimmigrant visa (NIV) applicants:

📌 What’s New:

You should now schedule your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in your country of nationality or residence.

Nationals of certain countries must apply at designated embassies (e.g. Zimbabwe → Johannesburg, Afghanistan → Islamabad, Iran → Dubai, Ukraine → Krakow/Warsaw).

Existing appointments will not be cancelled.

⚠ Important Notes:

You must prove residency in the country where you’re applying.

Applying outside your country of nationality/residence may lead to longer wait times and no refund on fees if denied.

Exceptions: A, G, NATO visas, official/diplomatic visas, and urgent humanitarian/medical cases.

🔗 Travellers are encouraged to check the official U.S. Embassy/Consulate websites for full details before applying.

🚨 Important US Visa Update 🚨

The US has announced a visa bond pilot programme for nationals of Zambia and Malawi applying for B1/B2 visas.

📅 Effective: 20 August 2025 – 5 August 2026
💵 Bond amounts: $5 000, $10 000, or $15 000 (approx. R89 400 – R268 200) – decided during the visa interview.
🛂 Bond submission: Applicants must complete Form I-352 and agree to all terms.
✈ Entry & exit restricted to: Boston Logan, JFK International, or Washington Dulles airports.

✅ The full bond amount will be refunded if all visa and bond conditions are met.

If you’re from Zambia or Malawi and planning travel to the US during this period, it’s essential to prepare for this requirement.
