CRIME PREVENTION OPERATION CONDUCTED IN THE MUIZENBERG IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT THIS MORNING.
Our Team conducted a Disruptive Crime Prevention Operation this morning, focusing on crime hotspots in Muizenberg and targeting persons recently released from prison and know repeat offenders.
This resulted in sharp edged weapons and drug paraphernalia being confiscated and handed into SAPS Muizenberg.
Thanks Team for a proactive and productive morning, from which residents and businesses in Muizenberg benefited.

MOUNTAIN MEN BICYCLE RESPONSE TEAM ARREST TWO HOUSEBREAKERS TODAY - ALL STOLEN ITEMS RECOVERED:
Two suspects were identified in the Muizenberg Improvement District this morning, by our CCTV Operators. They were walking around, aimlessly and were escorted out of the area. Upon returning to Church rd, in Muizenberg, they were picked up on camera, going onto 2 properties. A member of the public also reported the 2 suspects to our 24 hour control room.
Our Mids patrol vehicle responded, and observed the two suspects emerging from a property in Church Rd. Suspects changed their clothing and walked towards Marine Estate, while our officer in the patrol vehicle coordinated the interception and arrest of the two suspects.
Suspects detained at SAPS MUIZENBERG -
Both suspects reside in Capricorn.
Excellent Team work between CCTV Operators, BRT Mountain Observation Unit & AR Unit resulted in this positive outcome

GOOD CRIME PREVENTION RESULTS YESTERDAY - THURSDAY 25 MAY 2023 IN LAKESIDE & MUIZENBERG:
1. TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING & BEING IN POSSESSION OF HOUSEBRESKING IMPLEMENTS AT CHECKERS MUIZENBERG.
2. STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE RECOVERED IN LAKESIDE:

At around 18H55 on Wednesday 24/05/2023, our Muizenberg & MIDS Team we’re notified of two persons who had jumped over the wall of Checkers and were in the receiving section. Our Bicycle Response Team investigated and found the two suspects, who had a hacksaw in their possession. They were arrested and taken to SAPS Muizenberg. Our officers submitted arrest statements and left the suspects in the custody Muizenberg SAPS.
Later we established that the police Gad repeat the suspects?? We await feedback from Muizenberg SAPS, as to why they released the suspects?

Just before 02H00 on Thursday 25/05/2023, our armed response unit in Lakeside,responded to a report of persons pushing a vehicle In Norfolk Rd, Lakeside. Upon arrival, a vehicle was found in Norfolk rd, ignition on, steering column damaged, nobody present.
Muizenberg SAPS were informed, but had no vehicle available to assist us, and would not give us ownership of the vehicle. We kept an eye on the vehicle until we managed to locate the owner, via the help of residents in Lakeside. The owner eventually managed to get the vehicle reported as stolen, at SAPS Muizenberg.

GOOD ARREST IN KOMMETJIE, AFTER A DRUNKEN DRIVER HITS A VEHICLE AND DRIVES AWAY.
Our team responded swiftly to this incident, captured on Komwatch CCTV, located the driver and apprehended him.
Ocean Veiw SAPS attended to the scene, and released the driver, although he was under the influence of alcohol, stating that because the victim was not present there was no complainant???
Good work by the Komwatch members and our response units.

GOOD ARRESTS MADE IN MUIZENBERG MIDS AREA THIS MORNING BY OUR CCTV, BRT AND AR UNITS.
After an increase in night crime in a particular part of the Muizenberg Improvement District, our investigation, coupled with complaints from residents in WHERRY Rd, and our findings, our teams were briefed about the modus operandi of two suspects.
At around 03H30 this morning our CCTV operators who were monitoring the MIDS cameras spotted two suspects, in Baker Rd. Our Bicycle Response Team - BRT was dispatched and they observed the suspects tampering with a parked vehicle.
The suspects were confronted and immediately fled. They were pursued and both were arrested in Royal rd.
MUIZENBERG SAPS were notified, but did not have a vehicle available to attend to this arrest. Suspects were taken to SAPS and detained on attempted theft out of motor vehicle charge. Both suspects reside in Capricorn - Muizenberg.
We hope that detectives can link them to the WHERRY Rd incidents of the past week, and encourage any person who has been the victim of any crime, to report it to SAPS.
