Heels can alter the body's posture and increase pressure on the foot, ankle and knee joints. A solid piece of advice would be to change it up every once in awhile. Don't wear the same heels day after day! Wear a combination of slops, sandals, pumps and supportive track shoes to provide arch support.

Today, for World Spine Day, we want to talk about the incredible nature of one of the most important structures in the body, as well as how the feet and lower limbs interact with the spine.

Standing, walking, holding our heads up - without even realising it, you are doing all of these things and so much more because of your spine. Our spine holds our body together and allows us to function. Our feet and lower limbs are just as important in connecting with the spine and helping us to put these movements into action.

What does this mean? Look after yourself! Look after your feet, make it a priority to exercise, stretch out and most importantly, don't hesitate to make an appointment with your nearest podiatrist at the first sign of any condition or pain of the feet or lower limbs. Maintaining a healthy body is essential in order to live a fulfilling life.
