We're excited to share the publication of our manuscript "Left atrial function and fibrosis in lifelong endurance athletes: a cardiac magnetic resonance imaging study" in the International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, the initial result of our ongoing Athlete Heart Study, which aims to unravel the causes of atrial arrhythmias in South African endurance athletes.

We are grateful for the support we received from LODE (Groningen, Netherlands), who manufactured and sponsored this device for our clinical care and research program. It will allow us to evaluate the human heart during exercise (cycling).

We were excited to be the first to introduce the use of ultra high frequency electrocardiogram (UHF-ECG) in the management of our patients at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital. This technology will improve the pacing/ heart failure outcomes of our patients.
