“Today, it feels as if sandalwood is being showered from the heavens; my dear friend, I can sense the gentle whispers and anticipation of what is about to arrive.”

On this International Day of Happiness, and with the onset of Chaitra Navratri, these words feel even more profound — that true happiness is not found outside, but cultivated within.

As says, “A strong mind can carry a weak body, but a weak mind cannot carry even a strong body.”

The wisdom of these sacred days offers us simple yet powerful tools...
movement through garba (dance),
lightness through fasting,
devotion through prayer,
stillness through meditation.

In Ayurveda, when the mind is balanced, prana flows freely… and from that state, bliss (ānanda) naturally arises.

So this Navratri and International Day of Happiness, may we honour the incredible power of the mind — to lead us back to ourselves,
where happiness gently blossoms into bliss. 🌼

My Epilepsy Story | National Epilepsy Week 🇿🇦

I’ve carried this story quietly for many years.
Today, I’m sharing it on this platform — not for sympathy, but for understanding.

Epilepsy isn’t just seizures.
It’s silence.
Stigma.
Fear of being “othered.”
The loss of control.
The exhaustion no one sees.

Growing up, I was taught that hiding my diagnosis would protect me. And maybe, at that time, it did. But silence also isolates. It teaches you to shrink yourself.

If you know someone with epilepsy, please remember this:
We don’t need pity.
We need patience.
We need compassion.
We need safe spaces.

And if you live with epilepsy — you are not broken. You are not weak. You are not alone.

It’s been many years since I had an epileptic seizure, yet even today, witnessing someone else have one sends shivers down my spine. I think that’s because I was once that person — and I never fully realised how frightening it must have been for those around me to witness it.

In my teens, I wasn’t open about my diagnosis. I feared being bullied, excluded, or made to feel “less than.” But years later, when I finally found the courage to share my story, I was met with warmth, care, and compassion from friends and family — something I deeply appreciated.

Now, I understand that alongside love and sympathy, the most empowering question we can ask someone with epilepsy is: “How can I support and care for you if you have a seizure?” ... because the scariest part isn’t seeing someone lose control of their body — it’s not knowing how to help them.

On this International Epilepsy Day, let’s raise awareness, build understanding, and end the stigma.
