Ocean View Association for Persons with Disabilities

Ocean View Association for Persons with Disabilities The OVAPD provides protected employment opportunities, vocational rehabilitation, skills development

Skills development and emotional wellbeing of the members is a primary focus of OVAPD. Members of all physical and learning
disabilities take part in weekly dance and movement classes, craft classes, including knitting, as well as computer and literacy
classes. Some of the members have been trained to work in the kitchen and now make lunch for all the members on a daily basis
using foods donated by local supermarkets. People with disabilities are often marginalised in their communities. OVAPD has the attitude that the members can aspire to and achieve anything, and dedicates quality time and effort in creating a safe and nurturing environment for their development. Deborah and her team fully believe that creating happy and motivated people will build a better community and allow people with disabilities to become valued members of society.

The staff and members of the Ocean View Association for Persons with Disabilities celebrated Casual Day on 6 September in style as we embraced this years theme of "Time to Shine!"
We took the time to have fun and celebrate each other and our special qualities.
Many of us wore black in support of the national movement against violence to women, children and vulnerable groups such as those living with disabilities.
Thank you to everyone who bought casual day stickers and supported the centre on the day!

Deborah oversees the entire Ocean View Association for Persons with Disabilities. Everyday, she works extremely hard to create an environment for our members to thrive in. Without her, OVAPD would not be the amazing organization it is today. Our members have developed meaningful and intentional relationships with her, and she loves each and everyone fully.

OVAPD is now looking for volunteers! If you think you are interested in helping us, contact us and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Today was our last day of puzzle piecing with our members. Though it was very bittersweet, we were so excited to see the progress they’ve made in the past 8 weeks of working with them! Elise has been working on this puzzle of the dog for four weeks! Her persistence is amazing, and to help her, we all worked together to finish it as a group.

We are extremely proud of our members. Their love for one another, persistence, joy, and intelligence are some of the sweet memories we will hold forever!

If you are looking to volunteer with our members, feel free to contact us. You won’t regret it!❤️

Today was our last day of balloon volleyball! They had so much fun and had great teamwork, and the members even played a game against the volunteers and won! Us volunteers, Madison, Clayton, and Kanoe, have been blessed by the members of OVAPD, and we hope that we were able to make their days a little more interesting with our balloon volleyball game in our time here.
