Sinusitis is usually inflammation in the sinuses that creates pressure, pain, and blocked breathing.

Symptoms can include pressure around the cheeks, forehead, or eyes, blocked nose, thick mucus, reduced smell, headache that worsens when bending forward, postnasal drip, sore throat, and sometimes tooth or jaw pain.

⚪ What often triggers it
A cold that didn’t clear properly, allergies, dust exposure, smoking, weather changes, or chronic nasal irritation.

⚪ What to do next
If it’s mild, we can advise safe symptom relief and how to use it correctly. If it’s lasting longer than 7 to 10 days, getting worse, or keeps coming back, you should get reviewed.

⚪ What helps at home
Saline rinses, steam inhalation, hydration, resting, and avoiding smoke. Do not overuse decongestant sprays because rebound blockage is real.

⚪ When to go urgent
Swelling around the eyes, high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, confusion, or vision changes needs urgent medical attention.

Comment “SINUS” if you want a quick do and don’t list for sinus relief. Save this.

Most people treat flu and a cold the same, but they’re not the same experience.

A cold usually comes gradually with sneezing, runny nose, mild sore throat, and mild tiredness.
Flu often hits suddenly with fever, chills, body aches, headaches, heavy fatigue, and a cough that can feel deeper in the chest.

⚪ What to do next
Rest, fluids, and correct symptom relief makes a big difference. Come into Symphony Pharmacy in Mitchells Plain and we will guide you on what to take for fever, congestion, cough, sore throat, and what not to mix.

⚪ What helps at home
Hydrate, sleep, eat light meals, use a humidifier or steam for congestion, and do not overuse nasal sprays. Antibiotics do not treat flu unless a doctor suspects a bacterial complication.

⚪ When to go clinic or doctor
If symptoms last longer than a week, fever keeps returning, or the cough becomes severe, get assessed.

⚪ When to go urgent
Trouble breathing, chest tightness, wheezing, severe dehydration, blue lips, confusion, or illness in babies, elderly, pregnant women, or people with asthma requires urgent medical care.

Comment “FLU” and tell us the worst symptom for you. Save this.

High sugar can creep up slowly, and many people mistake the signs for stress, age, or being “just tired.”

Common signs include being thirsty all the time, peeing often especially at night, constant fatigue, blurry vision, slow healing cuts, frequent skin or urine infections, increased hunger, tingling or numbness in hands or feet, and unexplained weight changes.

⚪ Why this happens
When your blood sugar stays high, your body tries to get rid of it through urine, which causes thirst and frequent urination. Over time, high sugar can affect nerves, eyes, circulation, and healing.

⚪ What to do next
Do not guess. Come into Symphony Pharmacy in Mitchells Plain and we will guide you on the next step and when you should go to a clinic or doctor for proper testing.

⚪ What helps at home right now
Cut down sugary drinks, reduce refined carbs, increase fibre, add protein to meals, and move daily even if it’s a 15 minute walk.

⚪ When to go urgent
If someone is very drowsy, confused, vomiting, breathing strangely, severely dehydrated, or cannot keep fluids down, seek urgent medical help.

Comment “SUGAR” if you want a simple post on everyday meals that help stabilise sugar. Save this.

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, which is why so many people only find out after it has already affected the heart, kidneys, or eyes.

Some people do get warning signs, but they are not reliable. These can include headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, nosebleeds, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, fatigue, or a pounding heartbeat. Stress and too much caffeine can feel similar, so don’t assume.

⚪ What can cause it
Family history, high salt foods, smoking, alcohol, stress, being overweight, little exercise, and certain chronic conditions can all increase risk.

⚪ What to do next
Do a blood pressure check and track it properly. One high reading does not always mean you have hypertension, but repeated high readings do matter. Come into Symphony Pharmacy in Mitchells Plain and we will guide you on what your numbers mean and what steps to take next.

⚪ What helps at home
Reduce salt, drink enough water, move daily, and limit alcohol and smoking. If you are already on medication, take it consistently and do not stop suddenly without advice.

⚪ When to go urgent
Chest pain, severe headache, confusion, fainting, weakness on one side, slurred speech, or trouble breathing needs urgent medical attention.

Comment “BP” and we will reply with the blood pressure ranges to know. Save this for your family.
