Oef, It’s been a week 😮‍💨

We’re all moved out of the Regent Building and a whole big chapter has closed.

It’s hard to say goodbye to this space. Yes, The view is amazing. Watching whales 🐳 and dolphins 🐬 while we adjusted was amazing. But on a deeper level, there was so much shared in this space with so many beautiful people.

So many stories were told. So much pain was shared. Birth stories were celebrated and mourned here. Journeys walked. So many newborn babies had their first adventure outside of the home here. Birth trauma unraveled in little nervous systems. Testimonials shared. So many beautiful friendships started in these rooms. Grief was shared. New goals were met. Tears were shed. Pregnancy announcements were made. Our Church even met here for a few months when we outgrew the home we were meeting in.

WOW it’s been a journey. These walls hold stories. And this space is filled with memories.

Did you know that research shows that the part of the brain 🧠 that is stimulated when someone receives a spinal adjustment is the PreFrontal Cortex 😁. This stimulation was measured using EEG scans.

Did you know that you breathe with more than just your 🫁 lungs?

In fact proper breathing has a lot more to do with how the “canister” is functioning that sits just below your lungs. The “canister” is made up of the diaphragm, pelvic floor muscles, abdominal muscles and the back.

When we take a breath in the diaphragm and the pelvic floor should move downward in unison like a hammock. And the abdominal muscles should gently expand outward.

The nerves for the diaphragm come from the neck (C3-C5) and the some of the intercostal nerves. The nerves for the pelvic floor come from the lower back.

Did you know that your GUT is known as your SECOND BRAIN?! 🤯 🧠

That’s because the good bacteria in your gut (known as your gut flora/ microbiome) affects so many things like your body’s ability to fight dis-ease, your serotonin levels, your literal mood, your memory, anxiety and depression, your ability to learn, your vitamin K levels and your overall health!

When a baby is in the womb they don’t have much bacteria in their gut (some scientists hypothesize that their gut it totally sterile). Baby’s who are born via va**nal delivery get their first seeding (dose) of good bacteria from their Mother’s va**na as they pass through the birth canal. They get their second seeding as their face touches the Mamas perineum (and an extra good dose if the Mama poops during labour 💩😉 — I’m not kidding). Breastfed babies also are exposed to bacteria from their Mama’s ni**le every time they feed.

If you think your baby may have had more of a sterile start to life then you want to make sure that you are supplementing with good quality probiotics. (C-section babies for sure as they would have missed out on the first 2 seedings).

We live in a world that thinks sterile means healthy. It doesn’t. 🤦🏻‍♀️
