From ingredient to bowl, every decision matters 🧪🐾

Pet nutrition isn’t just about what’s on the label, it’s about what actually reaches the animal.

Science-led nutrition ensures safety, bioavailability, and real health outcomes.

AAFCO (USA)
Sets nutritional profiles and ingredient definitions for pet food sold in the United States. AAFCO doesn’t approve brands, but its guidelines are required to claim “complete and balanced” nutrition.

FEDIAF (EU & UK)
Establishes nutritional and labelling standards focused on pet health, safety, and transparency across Europe and the UK.

Local Regulations (South Africa)
Pet food produced for local use and retail in South Africa must be registered with DALRRD (Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development). This registration helps ensure food safety, regulatory compliance, and nutritional accuracy.

Local legislation also governs ingredient sourcing, labelling, and import requirements.

A responsible brand may align with multiple international standards, but local compliance is always mandatory.

Because real nutrition starts with accountability, not just buzzwords. 🐾

In pet food development, “human-grade” sounds impressive — but it’s often misunderstood.

It’s not a regulated nutritional standard, and while ingredients may start off fit for human consumption, quality is defined by formulation, handling, and nutritional adequacy, not labels.

Pet nutrition isn’t about copying human diets. It’s about species-specific needs, digestibility, bioavailability, and compliance with recognised feed regulations.

For food developers, real quality looks like:✔ scientifically balanced formulations✔ validated nutrient profiles✔ traceable sourcing✔ manufacturing standards

Trends drive attention.Science drives outcomes.

At CNP, we believe credibility is built in the formulation — not the headline.

Why data matters in pet nutrition 🧠🐾

Food formulation should never be guesswork.
When nutrition is data-led, every ingredient, ratio, and process is backed by science not assumptions.

From consistent quality and safer food to better efficiency and less waste, data allows us to create nutrition that’s reliable, traceable, and made for real pets with real needs.

This is how modern pet food should be made:
precise, measurable, and science-backed.

The Protein Wars in pet food aren’t about who uses the most — they’re about who uses it best. 🐾

Protein is essential for muscle, immunity, organ health and that healthy, shiny coat. But more isn’t always better. Too little or too much can impact your pet’s long-term wellbeing — which is why formulation matters.

Not all protein is created equal. Animal-based proteins deliver complete amino acid profiles with high digestibility, while plant proteins need careful balancing to truly support nutrition.

At CNP, we focus on what actually matters:
✔️ Digestibility
✔️ Amino acid profile
✔️ Ingredient quality

Because real nutrition isn’t about marketing claims — it’s about how well your pet’s body can use what’s in the bowl.

Protein, done right.

When it comes to your pet’s health, “good enough” isn’t enough.

That’s why CNP Pet Nutrition formulates to meet global standards, not just local minimums, ensuring consistent quality, safety, and nutrition in every bowl.

We believe the future of pet nutrition should be just as kind to the planet as it is to our pets🐾🍃🌍

That’s why in 2026, we’re deepening our commitment to ethical, environmentally focused brand partnerships and working with people and companies who care about sustainability as much as we do.

Because doing better for our pets should always mean doing better for the world they live in🤍

That “meat-first” label might not be telling the full story 👀

Ingredient splitting is one of the sneakiest tricks in pet food — breaking one carb into many smaller parts so meat looks like the main ingredient, even when it isn’t.
Always read the full ingredient list, not just the first line.

Transparency > marketing tricks.
Your pet deserves food that’s honest from top to bottom 🤍

Our Story

Claws 'n Paws is a pet sitting service that caters to dogs and cats of all ages and needs. We also offer dog training and behavioural sessions, natural medicine, organic dog treats, nutritional consultations and at home medical assistance. With years of experience looking after pets, the well being of them is incredibly important to me as well as giving the owners peace of mind while they are away. (Because let’s be honest - I am one of those super paranoid, helicopter mom, overboard and slightly nutty pet parents and I completely understand how scary being away from your beloved furkids actually is.) With basic certifications in animal nutrition and first aid as well as two and a half years working in the veterinary industry, Claws 'n Paws ensures that your furkids are well looked after so that you can thoroughly enjoy your vacation or business trip. I can administer medications and dress wounds as well as prepare foods for special dietary requirements. Nutritional consultations are also available on request. I have also been a volunteer, fundraiser and supporter of the Lucky Lucy Foundation, and other welfare organisations, since September 2015 - one week after I adopted my dog, Chester. I am also a foster mom to rescued animals who need some TLC to get them healthy and ready for adoption into the “furever” homes.

Being a pet-parent to special needs pets has also given me the understanding and appreciation for those furkids who require a little more focused attention.

Animals are my passion - understanding them, loving them and caring for them will always be my driving force in life. I look forward to meeting all of you and your furkids!
