Today I celebrate my beloved, beautiful and brilliant mother, Chief Barrister (Mrs) Edem Ewa Awe as she turns 80.
She is an epitome of wisdom, excellence, generosity, dignity, calmness and brilliance.
I could never have asked for a better mother who has been the pattern of a quentessential woman that I continually strive to emulate.
I thank God continually for gifting us all with this amazing mother.
Please indulge me as I spend today celebrating my mother today.

So it's my 'Ma Boos' birthday.

This morning after giving him his gifts, we both scrolling around window shopping on the 'gram' and here's how our convo goes,

Me: See this turban, I simply looove it 😍

Him: I don't like it at all, it looks Arabian.

Me: Me sef I hate that your yeye shoe which you were about to buy.

Him: Ah ah!! I didn't know you disliked that shoe so much, you never said anything.

Me: Since you were so vocal and abused my turban, I too don't like the shoe, in fact it reminds me of one rubbish sandals I wore when I was in Sagamu (high school)

Him: So all bets are off🙄🤷

Me: Yeah!!!! This is WAR!!!

That's how you navigate a loving relationship with your Boo, you agree to disagree 😁😁😁😁😁

Anyway I took him to my favorite chefs restaurant to discuss further engagements about this war. I will buy my turban. He might buy the yeye shoe 😁

About Last Week (Pt 1)

On the 23rd of August, Tusimame Wanawake and MARS collaborated to have an Intergenerational Dialogue to close the cultural gap between mothers and daughters.
The hall was packed despite the weather. Mothers and daughters sat together for honest conversations.
South African locals and their sisters of foreign descent discussed how we need to communicate with each other to pass on the lessons learnt.
Mothers were acknowledged as having tremendous wisdom to share while daughters were acknowledged as having youth, energy and innovation on their side.
The Social Cohesion Department of Sports, Arts and Culture was ably represented and they gave a very inspiring keynote speech.
We had leaders from organizations such as Thutuzela Care Center, Kwesu, CONTRALESA, Somalian Association of South Africa, Angel Community Network, Africa Unite (our parent organization) was there in force and our amazing DJ R, brought the vibe as always.
We closed off Women's Month with an absolute bang.
