Healing your life - Depression
your beliefs shape your reality. Your beliefs set off reactions in your body, brain and chemistry and aura which impact the world around you. Many will tell you that depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. But if we take into account what we started with, then there is a predecessor to this. The chemicals in the brain are changed by the thoughts and emotions we hold over time. So some might say okay Ren get to the point. The point is that Depression is a reaction to something you are thinking and believing. Its a reaction to a prolonged exposure to either unhappiness, injustice, turmoil, its an inner anger - bitterness - resentment - hurt and a feeling that somehow you are stuck and cant change things around nor ever reach your dreams and its a belief on some level that no matter what you do it wont matter....its a handbrake in your head which wont let you move forward and after battling with all this for a long time it even becomes hard to get in the shower on a daily basis. You try the self help books, you have a counsellor, you try meditation and you try prayer but the only thing that will help you get over depression is taking the first step to freedom and that is to
1. Acknowledge your hurts/anger/resentment/bitterness
2. Identify where this feeling of overwhelm comes from and face it
3. Accept where you are, what has happened, what has transpired in your life and say okay - I make peace with yesterday, last week, last month. I make peace with the hurt and the pain and the anger and the fear
4 Now that we accept where we are we say to ourselves...okay what would better look like.
if you have been neglecting self care - say okay lets daily we take a shower at least. We make some breakfast that makes us happy and fills our tummies. We pack ourselves a lunch for work. We brush our hair and put on a nice perfume / scent / deoderant.
If our problems are with work - we start getting someone to sort out our cv. we apply for jobs. we start saying no to overload. we set ourselves 30 minute concentration gaps to get through workload without touching our phones or goofing off on the internet.
We keep a journal of all the things that make us happy - or use to and try to revisit those things once in a while.
Depression is something that sneaks up on you over time.....there is no quickfix but there is a way out and a chance everyday to start again.
