We spent an amazing morning at Glenngarry yesterday. The weather was fantastic! Our residents had a wonderful time soaking up their very favourite treat of the year. Thank you to Jenny Shone for making this possible every year, and thank you to Lynne Purdon for the delious meal that you served us. It was so super to have Jenny with us this year. Jenny and Lynne and Greg make a super efficient team and the level of spoiling was out the top draw just like it is every year. We missed you Ronnie and Cynthia, but we can tell you that your girls and Greg did a great job.
This venue is quite amazing. The calm and beauty are difficult to describe, but wonderful to experience. Each one of the residents will tell you that it is an outing that is just not to be missed.
A very sincere thank you to the Shone family for their incredible generosity and sincere kindness to everyone at the CALLIE EVENS LODGE. We all appreciate the amazing support you give us through out the year. Thank you all for a wonderful day.

Friends kindly accept the following intimation:

Lynette Constance Brown, late of Callie Evens Lodge, Cathcart passed away peacefully on Wednesday the 30th of July 2025 at the age of 85 years.

Sadly missed and deeply mourned by her loving children Oscar, Roland, Allistair and Laurence; their respective wives Nicky, Nadia, Colleen and Nola; grandchildren Christopher, Allison, Richard, Stephen and Lucy, Mary-Anne and Stefan, Katherine, Josephine, Warwick, and Saffron; great-grandson Anthony; and extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Lynette’s life will take place at the Hilton Methodist Church, Hilton, Tylden District on Monday the 4th of August 2025 at 11am, followed by the interment at 12 noon.

Yesterday the Cathcart district and surrounds had NO POWER from 5am - 9pm because ESCOM had a planned outage to do repairs. None of us like being without power but it is a huge challenge for the elderly. BUT ...........wait for this.........Thanks to the fantastic system that GRIDVOLT have put up for us with the incredible funding we have received from BK ADMIN we had power in the MAIN BUILDING at the Callie Evens Lodge throughout the duration of the planned outage.
The system is simple enough for a housewife/farmers wife to manage with constant support over the phone from the GRIDVOLT GUYS.
What an amazing test for the system just days after instillation.
More news is that because we had power all day there was NOT a moment that we or the residents in the cottages had no water. Thank you to FIX IT FAST for the water system you have installed.
We are also bragging about uninterrupted WIFI signal that is now available to everyone at Callie Evens Lodge. This turn around is thanks to the fact that we are now a ULWAZINET HOT SPOT. We sell vouches at the reception and both residents and staff have assess to very affordable UNCAPPED WIFI.
Thanks to another generous donation from ROTARY we have been able to order and pay for the equipment to put up HOT SPOTS for the TOP & BOTTOM COTTAGES. Thank you to Justin Miles and OpenConnect and their team for helping us jumps the hoops. (60 plus chaps don't lije technology - so their we lots of hoops - believe you me.)
These developments have all been made possible thanks to the support we have received from caring members of our community and the incredible help we have received from BK ADMIN.
