Did you know One in 1 000 babies born in developed countries and 1 in 650 babies born in developing countries is affected by down syndrome.

Although Down syndrome cannot be cured, there is a variety of medical care to treat problems associated with the disease.

Physiotherapists work with people with Down syndrome from infancy through adulthood. They help them function as independently as possible during different phases of life through hands-on care, patient education, and prescribed movement. ✨

With 176 courts around the country , Padel is a craze that’s here to stay 🎾

I have never played a game but I sure know about all the injuries that come from the sport.

In practice I find three main reasons for injuries:

1. People, who were previously sedentary and are now introduced into the sport without correct training or eduction on injury prevention.

2. People that play with pre-existing injuries

3. Incorrect footwear.

Continue to play the sport that you love but be more mindful of your body ✨

Make it a norm to chat in your social circles about good form , correct footwear and injury prevention ✨

Let us remember that on August 9, 1956, 20.000 women of all races, some with babies on their backs, from the cities and towns, from reserves and villages, took a petition addressed to South Africa's Prime Minister to the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

They were petitioning against the carrying of pass books , which to us is a thing of the past. However at present , there are still so many injustices women face.

Let us strive for Women's Socio-Economic Rights and Empowerment: Building Back Better for Women's Improved Resilience ✨

In between patients there’s always time for … Admin , yes 🙇🏻‍♀️ but also self development ✨

I try to grow and learn everyday from my patients & their experiences , from educational talks and practical examples.

You learn all your life & in physiotherapy I aim to teach my patients about their body , the cause of their pain , dysfunctional movement or weakness.

It’s through awareness and education that good quality of living can be achieved ✨
