World Mental Health Day 💚

This day reminds me of the responsibility I have to prioritise my own mental health. I was fortunate to through therapy with my psychologist, who helped me realise how often I fail myself when it comes to putting my mental wellbeing first.

In one sessions I said to her, “Iam a good person”. She stopped me and said “No you are not a good person- you are passive when it comes to your needs. It’s always about others. There is no good person who can be good to others and fail to be good to herself. Put yourself first. Your needs also matter”

That moment changed everything for me🤔💭.

So today, I encourage you to take a moment of reflection. Be willing to confront the uncomfortable parts of your life because healing begins with honesty and courage🌿.

Job hunting is a journey - and it can be a painful one. When you apply and get shortlisted it is a great confidence booster. But when it's quiet you can't help battling the thoughts- maybe something was wrong with my application, maybe I forgot to sign the application form or my application ended at a wrong address which may not be the case. The silence is heavy but don't lose hope.

Keep applying, your turn is coming.

Avoid overcommitting. Establish clear limits with clients and colleagues. Protect your time and energy .Take time to do what makes your soul happy. Go for counselling. By prioritizing your own healing, you will become an even more effective and empowered social worker.
