Winter = Castration Season!

As we only do open castrations in the field, we highly recommend that all c**ts are castrated in the colder winter months to reduce the risk of secondary infections and of course the fly burden will be less.

It is crucial to be sure that both testicles have descended properly into the sc***um before the horse or donkey is castrated. If only one testicle has descended, your stallion might still be too young to be castrated or he might be a cryptorchid.

Great care is taken during the castration to avoid any possible complications. The post-operative care is very important for the next 2-3 weeks after the castration.

This Arab c**t ran into a fence and lacerated the side of his abdomen. Fortunately, Dr. Riette was able to suture the wound shortly after it happened and the wound healed beautifully.

Meet Kevin! Happily snoring, blissfully unaware of the "mani and pedi" he is getting after his castration 🤣😴 He is an adult rescued pig, taken in by Woodrock animal rescue. Due to his age and size this was quite an experience to get him to sleep to do the castration, so we took the opportunity to trim him as well! He enjoyed his snooze and is now settling in at his new home. 🐖🐽🐷
