Celeste-Mari van Rensburg- Clinical Psychologist I am a clinical psychologist situated in Centurion. I believe that who we are does not stem from any single event in our lives.

I am a clinical psychologist and my practice caters for individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, play therapy, group therapy, divorce support groups as well as divorce workshops. Therapy itself with focus on behavioural difficulties, trauma, loss, anxiety, stress, mood difficultuies, transitional challenges, seperation difficulties, amongs others. I am a psychotherapist that draws from different modalities, but mostly I work from a psychodynamic perspective. Our personalities, our character, develops through interactions with others and our “blueprints” of what relationships should entail stems from our relationships with our primary caregivers. It is, therefore, important that I look at an individual in relation to their individual experiences, their family history, as well as their larger cultural background. For this reason, each therapeutic process is unique and is formed around the needs of the client. I view therapy as an interactional process, relying on input from both the therapist as well as the client. It can be seen as a flexible, dynamic process, in which an individual's ideas and meanings of events are explored. Therapy is non-judgemental and is confidential. It helps individuals become aware of how they are within relationships, what destructive patterns they may be repeating and makes them aware of their “blind spots” within relationships. This all can help them overcome current obstacles or difficulties, changing aspects that contribute to ongoing difficulties and leads to change that may enable the individual to lead a happier, more fulfilled life. In addition to therapy I am involved with Psycho-Legal Assessments. I also take part in Au-Pair assessments, which includes an interview; assessments that focus, among others, on how the individual manages frustration and aggression; as well as a feedback session.

Remember to always incorporate empathy and kindness. Also remember that discipline is meant to teach and not to punish. You hold the key to your child's emotional wellbeing, use it well.
