My girls, this is something I wish more women understood about the scale.

Sometimes the number goes up, even when you’ve been eating right and exercising consistently.

And often the reason is water fluctuations in the body.

Your body can hold on to more fluid for many reasons, like:

• Hormonal changes during your menstrual cycle
• Inflammation in the body
• Stress
• Salt intake
• Muscle recovery after exercise

All of this can cause your body to retain water, and that extra fluid shows up as more weight on the scale.

But that doesn’t mean you’ve gained fat.

This is exactly why the scale alone doesn’t tell the full story.
