Geagte Akina Mama Familie

Dit is vir ons n groot voorreg om Sr Rita aan julle voor te stel.
Sr Rita werk al die afgelope 4 jaar deeltyds by ons tuisversorgings afdeling en ons het nou die voorreg om haar by ons te hê as voltydse personeel. Sr Rita werk al baie jare met frail en dementia pasiente en dus is sy n groot aanwins vir ons hier by Akina Mama. Sy sal mederheid van haar tyd by ons Selborne fasiliteit spandeer maar ook gereeld vir die familie by Amkor gaan kuier. Sr Rita het n “bubbly” persoonlikheid en ons inwoners en personeel is baie opgewonde soggens wanneer sy instap en almal groet.

Birthdays are always a special occasion , especially at Akina Mama !
We celebrate these special occasions with all our residents and staff.
The residents especially enjoy singing to whoever's birthday it is but enjoy the cake and the decorations most of all!

Goeie dag aan al die Akina familie lede.

Na die president se toespraak gisteraand op 11 Julie het ons as Akina Mama bestuur besluit om die besoek van familie lede te staak vir die volgende 2 weke.

Ons besef dat hierdie besluit nie noodwendig aangenaam is vir julle nie maar ons hoof prioriteit is om te verseker dat ons inwoners se veiligheid voorkeur kry.

Indien daar enige navrae is, mbt die boodskap, stuur n boodskap of skakel vir Adriaan Lombard by 0610612419 om vir u enige duidelikeheid oor die situasie te verskaf.

We at Akina are very grateful for the opportunity to have had these amazing physio students working at our facility. Congratulations on your exam results, our residents enjoyed your company and as a small token of appreciation we had a small ceremony for the students. Our residents enjoyed having a final slice of cake with the new friends they made.

Dementia & Alzheimers

Worldwide, at least 44 million people are living with Dementia, making the disease a GLOBAL HEALTH CRISES that must be addressed.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of Dementia, an overall term for conditions that occur when the brain no longer functions properly. Alzheimer’s causes problems with memory, thinking and Behavior. In the early stage, Dementia symptoms may be minimal, but as the disease causes more damage to the brain, symptoms worsen.

A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s is life changing for the person with the disease, as well as their family and friends, however information and support are available. No one has to face Alzheimer’s disease or another Dementia alone.

Coming to terms with this illness is difficult for both those affected by it together with their loved ones. Calling on support for a loved one is one of the toughest decisions you’ll be required to do.

To this end Akina Mama Memory Care has positioned itself to care for those in need by establishing two facilities in the communities of Lyttleton & Lyttleton Manor, Pretoria.

Baardman & Baardman Brouwerij

Some heroes wear capes and others have Magnificent Beards !
Baardman produkte het tydens die grendelstaat ( Lockdown ) hul harte oop gemaak vir die pasiente van Akina Mama Memory Care. Baardman het beide klinieke met Hand Sanitzer verskaf tydens fase 5 en 4 van die grendelstaat. Hierdie skenking het ons toegelaat om te verseker dat ons pasiente en personeel toegrus is om dié virus vir n ses te slaan !
Ons by Akina Mama Memory Care wil graag net ons dankbaarheid Betoon aan die wonderlikke span van Baardman.

Ons vra dat indien u weer in die Hartbeespoort area is , graag sal inloer en ondersteun by hul restaurant wat nie net wonderlikke kos en verversings van top gehalte bedien nie maar ook ander produkte soos die baard olie , wax en kamme verkoop
