Urgent Help Needed for My Mom

My heart is heavy writing this, but my mom urgently needs help.

Most of you know what an incredible, kind and hardworking woman she is. But over the last year, her neck and spine condition has reached a point where her doctor has officially told her she may not work anymore. The pain is constant, and she can barely do the basic things she used to love.

She needs an urgent neck operation to prevent her from becoming paralyzed from the neck down. The cost is far beyond what we can manage on our own.

We have started a fundraiser to help cover her medical bills, and any support — whether a donation, a share, or even a prayer — means more than you know. Even R20 brings us closer to giving her relief from the pain she lives with every single day.

My mom is not someone who asks for help… so I’m asking on her behalf. Please help us give her back a life without constant suffering.

Every day, we’re reminded of how strong our mom truly is. Even in pain, she still smiles, still checks in on everyone else, and still finds small moments of joy.

This is my mom a few years ago.

We’re sharing this with hopeful hearts and gratitude for any help or support we may receive.

Our amazing mom is 64 years old — a loving, fun, and caring mom, friend, sister and grandmother who has always been full of life. She loves hiking, playing games, and spending time with her two daughters and grandson.

Sadly, her neck disks are disintegrating, and doctors have warned that if she doesn’t have surgery within the next year, she could become paralysed from the neck down. The pain has already been unbearable for over a year, and her doctor has ordered her to stop working completely to prevent her condition from getting worse.

The surgery she urgently needs will cost around R400,000, and without medical aid, this has become an overwhelming challenge for us as a family.

We’ve now opened a separate bank account specifically for donations towards her surgery, and we’re also setting up a BackaBuddy campaign, which will be live from 13 October 2025 for those who prefer to donate online securely. We will share the link and necessary information as soon as possible.

Every donation, big or small, and every share of this post helps bring us one step closer to giving her the chance to live pain-free and avoid paralysis. 🙏
