Tembisa Hospital kicks-off TB Awareness month

The Tembisa Hospital Masakhane and Infection Prevention & Control team has kicked off Tuberculosis (TB) month in earnest with a health education talk for patients in the main OPD hall. The talk took place on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The aim of the month-long awareness drive, which will cover all clinics, then move to in-patients in the ward and finally focus on staff, is to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis (TB) and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.

The health talk focuses on how to identify TB symptoms, the kinds of TB, foods to eat etc. TB Awareness Day is celebrated on 24 March annually, this year it will be observed under the theme 'Yes! We can end TB!' - a bold call to action and a message of hope, affirming that it is possible to get back on track and turn the tide on the TB epidemic, even in a challenging global environment.
