How sweet are these! Such a great, fresh idea. So much better than initials on a chain. I love them, wish my girls were young enough to draw sweet little pictures of me like these but alas, as teenagers they might draw me as a monster now :( But I bet all your little ones would come up with excellent drawings of you all - Christmas is coming..hint hint nudge nudge Dads.

My wife’s 40th birthday gift from our two kids. I asked our 4 and 7 year old to each draw a picture of their mom. I then hand engraved them onto rose gold pendants.
My wife couldn’t love these more!! ❤️

I know SA has a lot on its mind right now but I was wondering who else has watched this Telkom Ad? I'm pretty impressed. They have turned the old stereotypical gender rolls around - the dad is cooking, the mother is coming in from a day at work and the daughter is practicing martial arts. For me, its a step in the right direction. Gender based violence is one of the big negative effects of our societal stereotypes and these stereotypes need to be challenged. We know this, its not old news but SA media has sometimes been a little slow. This ad may not be a challenge as such but media does have a roll to play, they can begin a mind shift and I'm here for it.

How beautiful is this, to be able to choose like this!? She had choices! - Something that is severely lacking for birthing families here in Cape Town, they have so few choices.
These beautiful midwives honouring her and what she needs and holding her safely so she can let go. YES to this.

Now, as 2020 comes to an end, I am able to look back and see the year as a whole - see the big picture. I am able to see beyond the tears, stress and struggles, to the lessons and growth. There are tiny shoots springing from the burnt, scorched land, maybe still too small to see but they are there - I feel them, I feel their life force. I walk into 2021 feeling brave and beautiful.

To all the beautiful and brave birthers out there that I have been privileged to support in 2020 - Thank you for the honour - you all did a big thing, its no small task bringing a child in to this world and the task has a whole new element when there is also a pandemic. WOW, who would have thought! Just remember to breathe cos you got this. You are a capable being! And to the babies of 2020 that I stood witness to - call me in 2040! I wanna hear all about your journey and the joys of being born in 2020

And all you lockdown babies coming in 2021 - I'm ready for you!

I’d love to know if you have or if you’ve thought about having your children around during labour and birth?

For me I couldn’t quite switch off with my daughter around to fully get into the zone with my second labour. It wasn’t until I knew she was safe with my mum that the waves really started to build in intensity.

🌱 Home Births are the BEST.

🌱This mama was brave and courageous and her trust in herself and her team was beautiful to witness. Her husband never her side, always right there, being super vigilant of all the goings on, ready for anything Caitlyn needed.

🌱 Angela the Midwife was so great, gentle caring but clear and decisive too. Was lovely to be at her side while witnessing the beautiful family grow with a new treasure.
Angela, you amazing at what your do!

Mother's options of where and how to birth are very limited in many parts of the world, for various reasons that are often not very fair or just. I support any initiatives that are trying to tackle this in an atempt to give mothers a safer and more heart-full option to choose from when deciding on a place of birth. This is one initiative, that at first glance, seems to be headed in the right direction.
Funding is needed.

More and more delayed cord clamping is becoming standard practice because there is no doubt of its benefits BUT how long of a delay are we talking? 30secs doesn't cut it!
