Huis Groeneweide We provide comprehensive, sustainable, dignified care and accommodation to our elderly in a safe environment. It was established in 1973.

Huis Groeneweide in Darling is a residential program of BADISA and accommodates 64 residents. The permanent staff consists of 43 employees with an additional 6 relief staff members. With a vision aiming for happy residents who are cherished and a mission of comprehensive, sustainable and dignified care and accommodation for the elderly in a safe environment, Huis Groeneweide is dedicated to providing a nurturing and fulfilling home for its residents, ensuring their well-being and quality of life are prioritized every step of the way.

THE ANNUAL POUR — Beneficiary Spotlight

For more than five decades, Huis Groeneweide in Darling has been a place of warmth, dignity and community. Guided by a vision of happy, cherished residents and a mission to provide comprehensive, sustainable and dignified care in a safe environment, our home has become a true sanctuary for the elderly.

Founded in 1973, Huis Groeneweide was built on a simple yet powerful belief: that every elderly person deserves compassion, respect and a place where they truly belong. That belief continues to guide us today.

Fundraising has always been part of this journey. As far back as 10 October 1972, a gymkhana event marked the beginning of many initiatives to support this special home — a tradition of community generosity that lives on today.

This year, The Annual Pour Wine Auction invites you to join us in carrying this mission forward. Every contribution, every paddle raised and every lot won, helps ensure Huis Groeneweide remains a place of comfort and joy for generations to come.

Our residents enjoyed an incredibly busy and heart-warming week — filled with music, treats, wonderful people and the true spirit of community.

AVBOB en Crown Create Studio het kom kuier en gesorg vir ‘n oggend vol lag en musiek. Ons personeel wat betrokke was, het elkeen ‘n pragtige boekgeskenkpakkie ontvang — baie dankie vir hierdie bederf!

The NG Church organised a festive worsbraai and what a joyful day it was! Derick Nel filled the air with wonderful music and friends and supporters from Yzerfontein and Darling joined in, making it a very special day.

THE ANNUAL POUR — Event Spotlight

In two months from now, we’ll be welcoming our guests to an enjoyable evening at Buffelsfontein Private Game Reserve — our very first wine auction in support of Huis Groeneweide.

Set just an hour from Cape Town, this 1600 hectare family-owned reserve is home to a wide variety of African wildlife including lions, buffalo, wildebeest, rhinos, eland, giraffes and many more.

Its stunning landscapes and warm hospitality provide the perfect backdrop for an evening of fine wines, great company and true West Coast charm.

Last night, we hosted our Annual General Meeting and what a special evening it was! It was so heartwarming to see our community come together — friends, family, staff and supporters — all sharing in our journey and celebrating the work we do.
