I know this is much easier said than done. As I get older I'm realizing happiness is, at least in part, contingent upon how I deal with loss. Loss of loved ones, loss of some expectations, loss of my naive hope for the ideal. Dealing with loss is a long & painful process, but it also changes you to the core. You become all you hoped to be; more gentle, more kind, more present, more empathetic. Loss can create a holiness that comes in no other way.
