Holiday meals and routines can be overwhelming for autistic children, especially during busy festive periods. Understanding meltdowns with no obvious trigger can make all the difference. ๐Ÿ’œ

This infographic created by The Contented Child, Child Wellbeing Consultancy explains how internal overload builds quietly and why a child may reach their limit long after the stressful moment has passed.

Meltdowns that seem to come from nowhere often have deeper roots. A child may have been managing sensory input emotions, expectations, masking and big feelings for hours. When we recognise meltdowns as part of a sensory and emotional cycle we can respond with compassion connection and nervous system support instead of punishment or confusion.

You can learn more by exploring the Timeline of a Meltdown and other resources created by The Contented Child. ๐ŸŒฟ
