A proper warm-up is your first line of defence against injury.
Before every workout or match, take 10 minutes to activate your muscles and increase blood flow. This simple step helps protect your joints and improve flexibility.

Cold muscles are prone to strain and stiffness, while warm muscles perform better and recover faster.

Rehab Isn’t Just for Injury – It’s for Prevention Too

Rehabilitation exercises aren’t only for those recovering from surgery or injury. In fact, regular short, targeted exercises that strengthen and stabilise your knees — can help prevent problems before they start.

Focus on improving muscle strength, joint mobility and balance. Movements like step-ups, glute bridges and resistance band work can keep your knees aligned, your ligaments strong, and your joints supported.

Whether you’re an athlete, weekend warrior, or simply want to move pain-free as you age, dedicating just 10 minutes 3 times per week to joint-focused rehab can make a long-term difference. Prevention today means freedom of movement tomorrow.

🎾 Padel Red Flags – When to Press Pause

“It’s just a niggle…” 👀
No, it’s your body asking for a timeout.

Here’s when you should listen and step back:
🚩 Persistent knee or shoulder pain after playing
🚩 Swelling or stiffness lasting more than 48 hours
🚩 A sharp “pop” during movement or sudden instability
🚩 Tingling, weakness, or loss of strength
🚩 Pain that worsens every time you play

Padel is meant to be fun, not painful. If your body keeps sending warning signs, don’t push through. Get assessed early and stay in the game longer.

🚴 Cycling more? Be aware of IT band syndrome.

The iliotibial (IT) band is a thick band of tissue running from your hip down to the outside of your knee. When it becomes tight or overused, it rubs against the knee joint, causing sharp pain on the outer side of the knee, especially during repetitive activities like cycling, running or climbing stairs.

Why does it happen?
• Overtraining or sudden increases in mileage
• Poor bike setup or saddle position
• Weak hip and glute muscles placing extra strain on the knees

What are the symptoms?
⚡ Sharp, burning pain on the outer knee
⚡ Pain that worsens the longer you cycle or run
⚡ Discomfort when climbing stairs or after long periods of sitting

Ignoring IT band syndrome can turn manageable discomfort into a chronic condition that sidelines your training. Strengthening, stretching, and early treatment are key to staying pain-free on and off the bike.

🎾 Padel players – protect your knees before you hit the court!

Warming up properly can make all the difference in preventing injuries and keeping you in the game:
✅ 1. Start with dynamic leg stretches like lunges and high knees to loosen muscles and boost blood flow.
✅ 2. Activate your glutes and core with simple exercises such as bridges or side-steps to stabilise your joints.
✅ 3. Add in controlled squats and side lunges to mimic padel movements and prime your knees for quick pivots.

A good warm-up takes just 8–10 minutes but helps keep your joints strong, mobile, and pain-free. Stay sharp, stay safe, and enjoy every rally!

👟 Heel pain after runs? You might be dealing with plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis happens when the thick band of tissue that connects your heel to your toes becomes irritated from overuse, poor footwear, or sudden increases in running distance. It’s especially common in runners, people with flat feet, or those who spend long hours on their feet.

Typical symptoms include:
⚡ Sharp or stabbing pain under the heel, especially with the first steps in the morning.
⚡ Discomfort that worsens after exercise, not usually during it.
⚡ Heel tenderness that lingers after long runs or prolonged standing.

Ignoring plantar fasciitis can turn a manageable irritation into chronic heel pain that limits your activity. Early diagnosis and proper care make all the difference.

🔴 What is an ACL injury?

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the key ligaments that stabilises your knee joint. An ACL injury often happens during sports or activities that involve sudden stops, pivots, or awkward landings. Signs include a loud pop at the moment of injury, severe pain, rapid swelling, and difficulty moving the knee. Without proper treatment, ACL injuries can lead to long-term instability and limit your ability to enjoy daily activities or sports.
