Chaya

Chaya A spiritually enriched exercise method that aims at improving the physical abilities of the human body. How is Chaya different from Yoga and Pilates?

CHAYA(H): LIFE THROUGH MOVEMENT

A spiritually enriched exercise method that aims at improving the physical abilities of the human body through the selective application of functional movements, relaxation and soft meditation. Chaya has many similarities compared to these two methods, combining the physical benefits of both, with the major differentiator the absence of deep meditation, reflection, the use of mantras and the asanas (poses) as popularized by traditional Yoga. Instead, Chaya uses a scientifically founded system to improve the stability and mobility of the human body, something neither of the above mentioned methods achieve on their own. Simultaneously, Chaya celebrates life through movement as it is expressed through our life of faith in the One who created it. Mondays 07h30 – Core
Tuesdays and Thursdays 06h45 – Arise

Leaves changing color from orange to green as spring is around the corner. A rainbow colored sunrise. A sprout of new growth pushing through the sand. The smell of freshly cut grass. The rustling of leaves in the trees. Clouds moving past and changing shape. Sunshine kissing your cheeks. It is amazing that our creator would make all of this for us to enjoy. It is glorious actually! Yet days can go by and we have not stopped to notice. We forget to slow down!
Come move with Erika at Chaya Elements and you will find space to slow down in your moving.

Acknowledging the Creator of Life

Psalm 139:13-17
For you fashioned my inmost being, you knit me
together in my mother’s womb. I thank you
because I am awesomely made, wonderfully; your
works are wonders — I know this very well.
My bones were not hidden from you when I was
being made in secret, intricately woven in the
depths of the earth. Your eyes could see me as an
embryo, but in your book all my days were already
written; my days had been shaped before any of
them existed. God, how I prize your thoughts!

THE MIRACLE OF MOVEMENT
“There is an inseparable interplay between structure and function as it pertain to movement – a movement matrix. Each small segment somehow contributes to every movement we perform”. - Gray Cook, 2002"

THE MIRACLE OF MOVEMENT
“We move with conscious intention, and we move in automatic response. Our activities combine both reflex and purposeful movement behavior. In most cases, the first supports the second, and the second triggers the first. Like two sides of a coin, we cannot separate these easily or practically”
