Dr M Mathir

Dr M Mathir Your family's partner in physical and mental wellness, proudly serving Glenwood, Durban. I believe that a family practice should be a warm and inviting place.

A space where the warmth of myself, my staff, and the gorgeous surroundings offers mental and physical healing. Before our consultation, you can grab a cup of coffee and sit in the garden. Your teens can ask for the WIFI password and your kids can play with puzzles or blocks. We practice evidence-based medicine, but with an emphasis on patient autonomy. Together we discuss and plan your next steps, prioritizing your needs (and your budget) and explaining how prevention now will also pave the way for good health in the future.

We offer nationwide virtual consultations via Google Meet for patients who are unable to attend in person.

Our online consultations follow a specific medical protocol to ensure care remains safe, appropriate, and effective. Where a physical examination, specialist referral, or further investigation is required, either before starting treatment or during care, this is discussed and arranged accordingly.

Virtual care doesn’t replace in-person medicine when it’s needed. It allows access to structured medical support when distance or logistics are a barrier.

To book an online consultation, please WhatsApp 083 387 7393 or book online and specify “virtual consult” in your notes. 🩺

PRP therapy is increasingly mentioned as a possible treatment for erectile dysfunction, but many men aren’t sure what it actually involves.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy uses a small sample of your own blood. The plasma portion — which contains a higher concentration of platelets and growth factors — is processed and then injected into targeted tissue. These growth factors are involved in tissue repair, blood vessel support, and cellular signalling. 🍌

In the context of erectile dysfunction, PRP is being explored for its potential role in improving local blood flow and supporting tissue health. It is not a guaranteed solution, and it is not appropriate for everyone — which is why a proper medical assessment is essential.

Erectile dysfunction is often influenced by multiple factors, including vascular health, hormones, metabolic health, and neurological input. PRP may be considered as part of a broader, doctor-guided approach, rather than a quick or isolated fix.

At our practice, Dr Carrim provides confidential consultations and PRP therapy as part of his focus on men’s health. 🩺

Vitamin B6: the hormone-support vitamin few women get enough of, but almost every woman benefits from.

B6 plays a major role in mood, PMS symptoms, progesterone production, sleep, and even how your body handles stress. When levels are low, it can show up as irritability, anxiety, low energy, and cycle-related discomfort.

That’s why each serving of Hormone Synergy includes 50 mg of Vitamin B6 in a form your body can actually use. It supports hormonal balance on multiple levels, especially during the luteal phase, when many women feel the biggest shifts.

Vitamin B6 can help:
✔️ Reduce PMS symptoms and mood swings
✔️ Support progesterone production
✔️ Improve stress resilience and nervous system regulation
✔️ Aid sleep quality and energy metabolism

It’s a small nutrient with a big impact on how you feel 💞

2025
You were nothing short of incredible ✨️

We packed up and moved from our Glenwood premises to a brand new build in Morningside. was kind enough to involve me every step of the way in this new build to make sure my practice found a new home 🩷

We welcomed to our glenwood premises and helped the fabulous and find their feet in private practice.

We finally launched the first supplement from my company Hormone Synergy which has thus far been a resounding success with stockists countrywide and sales on the platform.

I decided to put my extensive experience with GLP-1 Agonists to good use, with further research and education to develop a course on the approach to GLP-1 agonists for medical practitioners. The success of this led to registration with as a course trainer.

We welcomed as part of our team to expand provisions in Men's Health, Male Medical weight loss and to assist with our current heavy patient load in Women's Health and Medical Weight Loss.

And lastly, the reason I say 'We' is because I couldn't have done it without the support of my team. Lorraine, Zahra and Sayuri thank you for a wonderful year together.

Alhamdulillah always for everything. 2026, we are coming for you 💪

There’s a lot of noise around GLP-1 medications, and it’s understandable to feel unsure or worried when you’re only hearing the scary parts.

These treatments aren’t right for everyone, and they’re not something to rush into, but when they’re prescribed thoughtfully and monitored properly, decisions should be guided by evidence, not fear.

If you’re curious, cautious, or simply want honest answers, a medical consultation allows space to talk things through properly. 🤍

If your cravings have spiked in December, same.🙃

Your routine changes, your sleep gets weird, celebrations multiply… and your hormones notice before you do.

It’s normal. It happens every year. Festive season cravings are not a character flaw; they’re just your hormones doing their seasonal panic.

Give yourself a break. It’s December, not a discipline test.😎
