The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) in KwaZulu-Natal recently hosted a District Disability Dialogue Session at Mellowood Community Hall in Ward 28, Shakaskraal, within the KwaDukuza Local Municipality on 5 March 2026.
The session focused on identifying barriers faced by persons with disabilities and exploring opportunities and strategies to strengthen their participation as the Commission prepares for the 2027 Local Government Elections.
APD-KZN Ilembe social workers was part of the programme, supporting information sharing with persons with disabilities. An information desk was set up where APD pamphlets were distributed, and attendees were able to ask questions and receive guidance about available services and support.
The dialogue created an important platform for engagement, ensuring that the voices of persons with disabilities are included in strengthening inclusive democratic participation.

On 19 February 2026, APD KZN PMB hosted a powerful Disability Awareness session for Grade 8 and 9 learners at Mzwandile Mbongwe High School 💜♿. The session focused on dismantling stereotypes, addressing bullying, and promoting inclusivity within the school environment and the broader community 🤝🌍. Together, we are building a more understanding and inclusive society for all.

As part of National Epilepsy Week, an APD-KZN Social Worker conducted an informative awareness session at Mwolokohlo Clinic in Ndwedwe. 💜 Community members received valuable information on epilepsy, including key facts, safety measures, and available support services.

What an incredible day it was! 🎊 APD-KZN marked International Day for Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2025 with a vibrant sports and competition event enjoyed by 160 persons with disabilities from our 8 protective workshops. Thank you to all who helped make it unforgettable! 💫

23/07/2025 –Nelson Mandela Day Programme was conducted at Missionaries of Charity – 21 persons were reached. Mobile Barber and Company gave all clients a professional haircut. Social worker provided snacks to 50 persons
