Whilst we all get ready to celebrate the end of a long and hard year and celebrate the coming of a new year filled with dreams, unfounded possibilities, hope and faith.

For those letting off fireworks works tonight, please be thoughtful and kind in not going crazy with the loud noises and bangs.

It really scares our animals, wildlife, the elderly and on some cases children.

Whilst this can be a very debatable topic, we will not entertain this, we just ask that you please be consider to the by laws and times for letting fireworks off.

Please help any animal in distress tonight. Keep it safe, network and let’s find its owners. Alternatively, take the animals to your nearest SPCA.

Take a photo of the animal with details of where it was found, male or female, is it sterilised if obvious, approx age.
Please network on social media to try find owners with your contact details or if taken to spca, which branch.

Let’s work together as rescue organisations have worked very hard this festive season.
They are exhausted and tried.

A community can come together for the good of man and beast.

New Years is coming up, please keep your pets calm and indoors!

The Durban & Coast SPCA encourage pet owners to get their animals microchipped. This is the best way to ensure you will be reunited with your pet should they go missing during this busy time.

TIPS to keep your pets safe during the fireworks season:
β€’ Keep them indoors in a familiar room. . . and stay home with them.
β€’ Close the windows, curtains, and blinds.
β€’ Have the TV or radio on to muffle the sound
β€’ Stay in the room with them and act normally, our pets react to our emotions, so if you are calm, they will feel calm
β€’ Allow dogs and cats to hide under the bed or wherever they feel safe.
β€’ Give them something to do, such as a chewy bone to munch on or catnip toys for cats
β€’ Get a herbal calming medication for your pet (most effective when started a week prior to the expected fireworks, available to purchase at your local SPCA or Vet)
β€’ Make sure pets are microchipped or wearing ID tags, so you can be reached if they go missing.

Please make the SPCA your first port of call should you find a lost or stray animal or if you have lost your pet. If your pet has gone missing, please ensure to visit your local SPCA’s within the 7 day time frame.

Help Dexter❗

We found Dexter in a heartbreaking state, wandering the bustling streets alone. His journey tells a tale of resilience despite the scars, not just the visible ones but also the ones that remain hidden within.
The calls and messages flooding in about this helpless boy urged us to step in and offer a helping hand. Days of searching led us to him, a young soul in dire need of care and compassion.
Dexter, like many other dogs we've encountered, carries scars that run deeper than what meets the eye. Building trust takes time, and we're committed to going at his pace, offering nourishment, warmth, and a safe space until he feels more at ease.
Once things return to normalcy, Dexter will need medical attention from the vet. Your small contribution can make a huge difference in his treatment and journey towards recovery.
Your kindness and generosity could be the turning point in Dexter's life.
