The KZNDHC difference is built on collaboration, advocacy, and a commitment to improving healthcare standards across KwaZulu-Natal.

By supporting healthcare professionals and promoting accessible, high-quality patient care, we help strengthen healthcare systems and outcomes for our communities.

Stronger healthcare happens when doctors work together.

During National Epilepsy Week, we raise awareness, promote understanding, and support those living with epilepsy.

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions worldwide, affecting millions of people. Education, early diagnosis, and access to the right treatment can significantly improve quality of life.

Together, we can reduce stigma and support better neurological health in our communities.

Today we recognise International Epilepsy Day — a global effort to raise awareness and support people living with epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects millions of people worldwide. With the right diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support, many people living with epilepsy lead full and active lives.

Awareness leads to understanding. Understanding leads to better care.

Cancer affects millions of lives — but awareness, early detection, and access to care can change outcomes.

Today, we stand in solidarity with patients, survivors, families, and healthcare workers who face this disease with courage every day.
Let this be a reminder to:
• Know the warning signs
• Go for regular screenings
• Support those on their journey
• Advocate for accessible healthcare

Together, through education, compassion, and action, we can make a difference.

New year. New health commitments.

As we enter the new year, make your health a priority. Preventative care, regular check-ups, and early detection are the key to a long and healthy life.

Start the year strong by choosing a doctor who puts your wellbeing first.

The festive season is a time to rest, reconnect, and recharge — but your health still matters.
Small habits like staying hydrated, eating in moderation, keeping active, protecting your skin, and staying safe on the roads make a big difference.

The KZNDHC encourages all communities to prioritise wellbeing and safety during this busy time of year.

Celebrations are part of the festive spirit — but drinking responsibly keeps you and others safe.
Pace yourself, stay hydrated, and never drink and drive. If you have a chronic condition, take extra care as alcohol can worsen symptoms.

The KZNDHC encourages safe, responsible choices to protect our families and communities this season.

World AIDS Day — 1 December

Today we honour the progress made in the fight against HIV, and the ongoing work still needed to support every person living with HIV in South Africa.

Our country aligns with the global UNAIDS 95–95–95 targets for 2025:
• 95% of people living with HIV diagnosed
• 95% of those diagnosed on treatment
• 95% of those on treatment virally suppressed

South Africa is on track for the first target, working to close the treatment gap, and is nearing the goal for viral suppression. With over 7.8 million people living with HIV and more than 5.7 million on ART, treatment remains one of our strongest tools.

U=U, PrEP, PEP, and regular testing save lives.
Stigma still harms them.

Today, we stand in solidarity with all individuals, families, and healthcare workers affected by HIV, and we continue the work toward access, dignity, and long-term wellbeing.

Diabetes is one of South Africa’s fastest-growing health challenges — but early screening can save lives.

KZNDHC encourages every adult to know their risk, get tested, and seek timely care.
Small lifestyle changes today can prevent serious complications tomorrow.

November is more than just a month for moustaches — it’s a reminder for men to take charge of their health.

🩵 1 in 16 South African men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime.
🩵 Men account for nearly 79% of su***de deaths in South Africa.
🩵 Early detection and open conversations can save lives.
🩵 Testicular cancer and colon cancer screening are easily accessible (and can be lifesaving when caught early).

This Movember, KZNDHC encourages all men (and those who care about them) to stop, check-in, talk, and act.
Because men’s health matters — every conversation, every check-up, every step counts. 💪
