🌪️ What Is Precipitated Labour? 🌪️
Precipitated labour (also called rapid labour) happens when your entire labour and birth happen very quickly — usually in under 3 hours FROM the first strong contraction to delivery.
💨 What it feels like:
• Contractions come suddenly and close together
• Very intense pressure and pain
• Little to no time between contractions to rest
• Baby arrives much faster than expected
💡 Why it can happen:
Some women just have bodies that labour fast! 💪
Lucky or not? 😬😅
It can also be linked to things like previous births, very strong contractions, or sometimes induction methods.
❤️ What to know:
• It can be physically and emotionally overwhelming
• There’s a slightly higher risk of tearing or baby breathing issues due to the quick descent
• If you’ve had a fast labour before, tell your care team — so they can be ready next time!
Every birth story is different — and each one is powerful in its own way. 🌸
