Movement looks different for everyone: a morning walk, a quick stretch, or a jog at sunset. What matters most is that you keep moving. 💪

Regular movement isn’t just about fitness; it supports joint health, boosts mood, improves circulation, and helps your body recover and perform better day to day.

Small, consistent steps build strength, balance, and confidence over time. So whether you’re walking, running, or rolling out your mat, remember: every bit of movement counts.

Stay active and keep moving. Your body (and your physiotherapist 😉) will be proud!

As practice owners, it’s essential to support your physiotherapists in their pursuit of both professional and personal growth. I’ve been privileged to work with physiotherapists who are genuinely committed to improving themselves and expanding their expertise.

From an educational perspective, I’ve always encouraged participation in day and weekend courses. Many of my team members have completed the OMT (Orthopedic Manipulative Therapy) program while working at my practice. One has completed a Master’s degree, and two others are currently pursuing theirs.

One of the most rewarding aspects of growth, in my view, is the opportunity to work with sporting teams. Having personally worked and travelled with various sporting codes and teams for nearly a decade, I can relate to the excitement and fulfilment that comes with this experience. I am proud that several of my physiotherapists have followed this path.

Thabane Nsibande has worked with Richards Bay Soccer Club, the UKZN Rugby Team, and now Durban City Soccer Club. He has also travelled to multi-code sporting events as part of the medical team.

Keenan Dreyer, a rugby player himself, has worked with the UCT Women’s Rugby Team and later joined Lamontville Golden Arrows’ Diski football team. He also had the privilege of assisting the Argentinian Rugby Team during their tour in Durban to play the Springboks.

Anele Ngubane, who once played professional soccer for Orlando Pirates, gave up his sporting career to pursue his dream of becoming a physiotherapist. He now uses his skills to coach and assist children’s soccer clubs in underprivileged areas.

Nomsa Dlamini comes from a background in ballet and gymnastics. While at university, she served as physiotherapist for the UCT Basketball Team.

These remarkable physiotherapists continually grow by transforming their personal experiences into compassionate and effective care for their patients. Admittedly, their time away from the practice can impact business profits, as each has a loyal following of patients who prefer to see only them. However, the professional and personal development they gain from these experiences far outweighs the short-term loss—it enriches their skills and strengthens the overall quality of care we provide.

My guiding principle has always been to empower younger physiotherapists. Through the partnership of Khan Singh Nsibande Physiotherapists, I hope to continue this tradition and inspire future generations of physiotherapists to strive for excellence and growth.

From the field to the gym, sports injuries can happen in an instant, and recovery takes more than rest. 💙

At KSN Physiotherapists, we use Kinesio Taping as part of our sports injury management programmes to help active patients move with comfort and confidence while they heal.

This supportive taping technique provides light stability, helps ease strain, and encourages natural movement, all without restricting performance. It’s one of the many evidence-informed tools we use to support recovery and prevent re-injury.

📞 Call us on 031 202 7186 to find out more about our approach to sports injury rehabilitation.

I bumped into an old friend today. I was most amazed to see Sister Gracie Makumbi walking the corridors of Netcare St Augustine's Hospital like she did more than 20 years ago. Sister Makhumbi, looking youthful as ever, shared that she had retired. I was saddened by this loss to the nursing profession but that was short-lived when she informed me that she will now be training agency nurses. That was truly music to my ears. Under her guidance we can be assured of the best agency staff. One of the best matrons I know.
Her passion for nursing is sure to be emulated by the agency nurses.

Workday headaches are more common than you think, and they’re not always caused by stress or dehydration. 💻

Tension-type headaches often start from the neck and upper back. Hours of sitting, poor posture, or looking down at screens can strain muscles and joints, referring pain to the head and behind the eyes.

Physiotherapy can help by:
• Releasing muscle tension and trigger points
• Improving posture and joint mobility
• Teaching movement and desk-setup strategies
• Reducing the frequency and intensity of flare-ups

📞 Call us on 031 202 7186 to book an assessment and learn how to better manage headaches.

Meet Keenan Dreyer, one of our dedicated physiotherapists with a passion for movement and performance. 💙

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical help, and for good reason. It affects how we move, sleep, work, and even how we feel day to day. 🩵

While back pain can be caused by injury, posture, or muscle strain, it often develops gradually, influenced by the way we sit, stand, lift, or manage stress over time. Understanding these patterns is key to long-term recovery.

Physiotherapy plays a vital role in both managing and preventing back pain. Through accurate assessment and hands-on treatment, your physiotherapist can:

Relieve muscle tension and stiffness
Improve posture and joint mobility
Strengthen the core and supporting muscles of the spine
Guide you through safe, effective movement habits
Help prevent future flare-ups through education and exercise

At KSN Physiotherapists, we’re here to help you move with confidence and comfort, every step of the way. 💙
