WHAT IS DNA HEALTH ANALYSIS?
Every patient is unique and this requires unique healthcare interventions. Testing your DNA allows us to understand a patients response to different diet , lifestyle and supplement choices and also responses to chronic medication that you have been prescribed.

HOW CAN DNA TESTING HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR HEALTH GOALS?
Every human is born with a set of genes that cannot change during your lifetime. What we can do is influence the way in which theses genes are expressed by supplementing for deficiencies through your diet and with supplements if necessary but very importantly, determine correct lifestyle choices to influence these problematic genes in a positive manner.

WHAT ARE GENES?
They are segments of DNA that contain instructions that your body needs to make the thousands of proteins that are required for your daily living. Each gene is made up of “letters “ also known as nucleotides. This code as such gives your body instructions for proper cell, body and organ function.

WHAT ARE GENE VARIATIONS?
With the exception of identical twins, all people have small differences in their genes. These differences make us unique. These nucleotide variations can affect the function of our genes.

THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE AS HEALTH GOALS AND PRIORITIES CHANGE THIS TESTING CAN PROVIDE VALUABLE INSIGHTS TO MAINTAIN YOUR BODIES HEALTH OPTIMALLY.

Give us a call and we can start you on a your journey to better health and a better quality of life.
The test is a simple finger prick test, so no big needles etc, it’s as simple as doing a random blood glucose test. It’s analyzed by a DNA LAB for 4 to 5 weeks and then we sit and go through them together to improve your present and future health.

Can spinal manipulation change the way your brain perceives pain?

A recent study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that manipulating the upper back in patients with neck pain resulted in a decrease in activity of the insular cortex in response to pain. This region of the brain is believed to play a role in the way we detect, evaluate and perpetuate pain signals, and may be therefore partly responsible for the way an individual experiences pain.

In this study there was a 35% decrease in activation of this important part of the brain, compared to a small increase in the control group, and an overall reduction in neck pain.

These results help to demonstrate the role that chiropractic care and spinal manipulation can play in the way our brain perceives and perpetuates pain. We look forward to further research into this area of neurophysiology!

The European Spine Journal recently published the 2018 Danish national guidelines for lower back pain, based on existing evidence on conservative and surgical treatment outcomes. These guidelines are aimed at lower back pain of recent onset and are hugely important due to the massive socioeconomic impact of this sort of pain. In fact in Denmark lower back pain is responsible for 10% of general practitioner visits and 20% of sick days!

Several recommendations were made, including continued physical activity, supervised exercise, and manual therapy (spinal mobilisation and manipulation) for pain relief.
The use of pain medication was recommended ONLY after careful consideration, and there was a recommendation against routine imaging such as xray or MRI.
There was also a recommendation against nerve root block injections.

If no improvement is made in 12 weeks of conservative care, then surgical consult is recommended.

Keep these guidelines in mind if you are battling with a recent onset of lower back pain and consider visiting a CASA chiropractor near you for assessment and treatment.
