Fun Fact Friday.
Did you know that humans shed their skin too? You constantly regenerate the outer layer of your skin, the epidermis. New skin cells form at the bottom of the epidermis and travel up to the top, pushing out your old skin cells. You replace about 500 million skin cells every day.
You probably donโt notice your skin falling off because it happens so gradually. Shedding skin allows the body to remove dead or damaged skin cells and replace them with new, healthy cells.
Certain deficiencies, conditions or toxin overexposure can irritate or damage the skin causing this process to accelerate. Be sure to seek out the necessary medical care in such situations so the protective barrier isn't compromised.
