It is in line with legal time allowed to terminate in South Africa without questions - which is 12 weeks.
The medical abortion procedure uses tablets instead of surgery to interrupt and expel an early pregnancy. Early pregnancy is best terminated using medicine because the fetus is very small. It is best targeted by medicine. And at this stage all that a woman terminating will see is blood similar to her usual menstrual periods.
Medical Abortion is not suitable for you if:
You are a smoker aged above 35 years only if we have assessed the resistance of your hormones before conducting an abortion.
You have a medical condition such as a heart complaint, high blood pressure or diabetes.
You suffer from severe asthma or are on long-term steroid treatment.
If you are anemic, have a bleeding disorder or are receiving anticoagulants.
You have had an operation on your uterus (womb).
You have ever had a bad reaction to Mifepristone or Misoprostol.
You have an entopic pregnancy (where the fertilized egg is implanted in the tube rather than in the womb).
What you should not do on taking termination
1. Should not breast feed for a week or or else you don't feel the pains in your breasts.

2. You should not drink alcohol or smoke once you have taken the medicine for at least two or more days after you have been given the tablets. You should not take illicit drugs.

3.Do not take medicine for pain relief (e.g panadol, aspirin) during the process of termination. It will interfere with the termination process.
