Tips from a youngster:
1) safety 1st; always
2) observe the beauty in your surroundings and cool your feet down (apparently)
3) hydrate (aka focus and climbing juice)
4) look ahead and ride !

A another INCREDIBLE week has come and gone! Months of hard work, preparation, seeking guidance, early mornings of “pedal again” for all those that arrived on 16 March 2026. We are so proud of you.

For those who had to make the absolute choice of pulling out or the choice was made for you; we salute you too because we know you approached this with all you had just like everyone else. 💝

ABSA CAPE EPIC DAY 7 ….

This is our last day of Epic… Anya and I have been enjoying the last 7 days. These men: John, Phil, Marchie, Thinus, Christian, Craig, Floris & Arno; were brave enough to trust us with their brokenness, vulnerability and hope. But what they don’t realise is how they encouraged us to be more, give more, try harder and give back to them.

Tomorrow is their last day… we are so proud of you we got to serve as well us everyone else we could just cheer on in the shadows.

Also, I must give my biggest thanks to my fabulous and one and Only Husband and our little girl, for their patience this week and the weeks building up to epic. They managed their own life Epic while I was working and also had time for welcoming me back with balloons and a card. (Card translation: Dear Mom, I love you. van Alexa 💝💝💝💝💝)

ABSA CAPE EPIC DAY 5

Queen Stage is the stage that tests fatigue. Fatigue of muscle, guts, personality, character, and your soul.

Mud, handlebars breaking, falling, tired, tired and more tired and then you climb! These guys really give it their absolute all!!!

We are all in awe, wonder and our sense of respect has no words to describe. We also know you are not done…. Tomorrow is yet another day on the saddle with HOPE that maybe you can make it again. And you will.

ABSA CAPE EPIC DAY 4…..

Windless, best temperature, start to the day…. With A smiling Berenese beauty, some jokes, coffee and great company; we attempted to calm the the very angry quads, sore necks, hands and lower backs.

And then as sunset sets in the wind arrived and was angry too! Goodness! Not sure what we did to it but we all started hanging on gazebo’s. Pray the mechanics will hold it together through this night.

A very big day tomorrow for the riders. They are tired yet smiling. We will see you in Stellies! Good luck!

It is ABSA CAPE EPIC 2026!

Prologue day started with a nice hairdo for our girl, and “Luno” was buckled up to journey with mom … cause you know…just incase I feel scared or lonely then I also have a little Hasie.

Montagu accepted us with a beautiful day of blue skies, a joyous town and very friendly people everywhere.

Excited to journey this one and see how characters are built, relationships deepend and witness how precious time becomes a golden thread in your heart.

Stay rolling on the bike!
And stay legs up off the bike!
