Stop saying “judgment” like it’s a bad thing.
Judgment is discernment. The problem is when we pre-judge.
I’m a big fan of “judgment.”
In case you think "judging" is a problem, remember: you judge what to eat for lunch, every day. Should I eat this dog p**p? Or an organic apple?
That’s judgment. That’s something (I hope) you do every day: discern just from unjust, healthy from unhealthy. Judgment requires clear seeing.
The problem is when we pre-judge. Pre-judging is, quite literally, prejudice. It’s being caught up in our preconceptions—our preconceived notions of good or bad, like or dislike.
The good news: we all do it. Pre-judging doesn’t make us evil. It makes us human. We do, however, need to work to devote ourselves to waking up from our own preconceptions—for others’ sake, and for our own. ~ It's Never too Late to Fall in Love with your Life
