โ€œKissing your baby changes your breast milk. Did you know that the undeniable urge to cover your baby in kisses serves a biological purpose? When a mother kisses her baby, she samples the pathogens on babyโ€™s face, which then travel to momโ€™s lymphatic system. Momโ€™s body then creates antibodies to fight those pathogens, which baby receives through breast milk. What?! Amazing, right?โ€

Why CRAWLING is important ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿผ

As we look at big muscles this week, we wanted to highlight crawling! Let's zoom in and look at all the amazing ways that crawling develops not only our big muscles but also our other systems like balance and perception! ๐Ÿ”

Here are some of the reasons why crawling is important:
โ—It makes shoulders, hips and core muscles strong.
โ—It develops the arches of hand. Compare your palm to your babyโ€™s palm. The arches and curves in your palm are needed for handwriting later on. Babyโ€™s hands tend to be flatter and fatter!
โ—Crawling works the two sides of the body together - we all need to be able to use both sides of the body at the same time. Imagine trying to drive without being able to do that!
โ—Crawling develops balance
โ—Crawling is important for hip and neck development.
โ—Helps to develop spatial awareness and visual perceptual skills such as depth perception
โ—It helps the eyes and hands work together in eye hand coordination.
โ—It helps develop body awareness and improve motor planning.

Crawling is also important and valuable for older children who are already walking and running around. So why not build some tunnels to get them crawling too!

If you have any questions about crawling post them below!
