Most gynaecological cancers can be successfully treated when found early That’s why regular check-ups and screenings are so important.

👩‍⚕️ 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭:
Women should begin Pap smear screening at 𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝟐𝟏, even if they’re not sexually active.

⏱️ 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧:
If your results are normal, you can usually screen every 2 years.

💖 Regular visits also give your gynaecologist the chance to discuss other screenings for ovarian, uterine, and breast health based on your age and family history.

𝐔𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 (𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥) 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫
Uterine or endometrial cancer develops in the lining of the uterus and is most common after menopause, but it can occur at any age. The first warning sign is often unusual vaginal bleeding.

🚨 𝑆𝑒𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑑𝑜𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟 𝑖𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑛𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑒:
Any bleeding after menopause
Heavy, prolonged, or irregular periods
Bleeding between periods
Pelvic pain or discomfort

While many causes of abnormal bleeding are not cancer, it should never be ignored.
Maintaining a healthy weight, managing conditions like diabetes, and reporting symptoms early can all help reduce your risk.

Unlike cervical cancer, there’s no standard screening test for ovarian cancer, which means recognising symptoms early is key.

🚨 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞:
Bloating or swelling in the abdomen
Pelvic or lower back pain
Feeling full quickly or loss of appetite
Needing to urinate more often

These can be easy to dismiss, but when they don’t go away or feel unusual for you, it’s important to see your doctor.

🦠 HPV is the main cause of cervical cancer

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a very common infection. Most people will have it at some point without even knowing. In most cases, the body clears HPV naturally. But when the virus stays for years, it can cause abnormal cell changes that may lead to cervical cancer.

💉 HPV vaccination protects against the types most likely to cause cancer.
🧪 Regular Pap smears catch early cell changes before they turn into cancer.

Best protection = vaccination + routine screening.
Even if you’re vaccinated, Pap smears are still important for lifelong protection.
