Don't let your speech disorder define who you are. You have stories to tell and people to tell them to. Be brave and tell your story.

Did you know that 84.5% of people have never heard of the term “aphasia”, yet aphasia has a greater negative impact on a person’s quality of life than cancer or Alzheimer’s disease. It is our job as speech-language therapists to provide treatment to patients and their families that will improve their quality of life.

It is estimated that speech problems may affect around 90% of individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. By consulting a speech-language therapist early on in the diagnosis, strategies can be put in place to enhance communication and therefore quality of life, before difficulties have any significant impact.
