Last week I did a talk on Gut health. I thought I would share a few of the tips from the talk.

1. Eat plenty of fibre. Fibre is an indigestible form of carbohydrate that aids in f***l bulk and regularity.

2. Including more probiotic foods such as yoghurt, keffir and kombucha. They aid our existing gut microbiome. They line the digestive tract and act as a defence against pathogens.

3. Drink plenty of water. It helps pass bowel movements with ease, improve absorption of nutrients and improve digestion in general.

4. Keep active. Exercise is linked to increases in the number of beneficial microbial species and keeps you regular.

5. Reduce Stress. Stress can both delay emptying stomach contents and speed up the movement of contents through the intestines. Either causing constipation or diarrhoea.

Don’t over complicate things when it comes to gut health, its not always necessary for fancy supplements.
Small changes make a big difference.

This program guides you through the process and also helps free you from the diet cycle.

It will teach you to lose weight or eat healthy without any form of restriction or hunger.

Here is one to try...
Frozen banana.

Cut bananas in half, insert an ice cream stick (or sosatie stick if that is all you have), dip into yoghurt of choice, and freeze.

If you are looking for something a bit more indulgent, you can drizzle with some chocolate, honey, or peanut butter (tip: add some hot water to the peanut butter to melt it first) and then refreeze.

Don't knock it, until you have tried it.

Nutritional info: 1/2 - 1 fruit portion and 1/2 yoghurt portion (+ 1/2 fat portion depending on your definition of drizzle).

Yay! It’s finally here!!

A lighter YOU🎈

The aim of this program is not only to lose weight, but to give you the skills in order to sustain the weight loss long term, keep you motivated and excited about both food and your health! As dieticians we know that the amount of information regarding nutrition and weight loss available is not only extremely overwhelming but often does not have any scientific backing.

This program runs over the course of 4 weeks with one session each week. Each session will include a different topic with personalised goals and therapeutic exercises for you to build on each week. Our aim, at the end of the 4 weeks, is for you to have made healthy changes that will aid your to weight-loss journey, and improve your relationship with food.

We all feel the New Year Pressures.

Pressure to start a new diet, join the gym, lose weight, become more organized, create new habits, the list goes on and on. January is special because it brings with it new possibilities and hopes. But it also brings overwhelming pressure, uncomfortable conversations, unsolicited diet advice, and intense feelings of judgment.
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
This year - let's not create this pressure and carry this internal level of judgment. It's okay to let all of those pressures go and instead, let's be more self-compassionate.
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
Self-compassions is:
- nourishing yourself with meals that you enjoy
- noticing when you feel emotionally overwhelmed
- not over committing or scheduling your life
- self-love and care
- spending more time recharging
- moving your body in a way that you ENJOY and look forward to

So let's intentionally let go of new years resolutions already, and just start looking after this version of yourself instead!
