Dear NSFAS Student,
NSFAS is introducing a new system called sBux to pay students for food, accommodation, books and travel allowances.
You will receive your allowances as cellphone vouchers and will be able to spend your vouchers at registered sBux merchants.
How will sBux work?
- NSFAS will pay your allowances for food, accommodation, books and transport in the form of sBux vouchers sent to your cellphone.
- You will be able to spend your sBux vouchers at registered sBux merchants.
What will you need?
In order to receive your NSFAS allowances via sBux, you will need:
- Your own cellphone
- To ensure that your landlord is registered on sBux as a merchant. Please visit www.nsfas.org.za to download the Merchant Application Form, which your landlord must fill in.
How will NSFAS support you?
- Visit www.nsfas.org.za to read the sBux Guide which will explain how to use sBux and to download a list of registered sBux merchants.

How to activate your sBux account
Step 1: Dial *134*176 #
Step 2: Enter your ID number to activate your sBux account
Step 3: You will receive your sBux password via SMS
Step 4: Select option 3 to see your sBux vouchers
Your vouchers will be sent to your cellphone within 48 hours of activating your account.
