Care Career Connection npc- addresses the lack of training facilities and supported employment of young adults with intellectual challenges (including Learning delays and Psychiatric conditions).
C.C.C. specialises in unique, individualised, one-on-one career orientated training (i.e. jobs of their own choice) and job placement with long-term support.
We believe that just about anyone can be gainfully employed the mainstream Society. This has been achieved globally for nearly 40 years but is a relatively new concept in South Africa.
ACRE (USA) accredited qualified Trainers first do in-house training, progress to on-site job training in as close to their chosen career as possible, then do a job placement. Thereafter offer long-term (actually life-long) support. All of the above in, or as close to, their own communities as possible, avoiding the safety problems of travelling long distances or leaving their own, known, areas.
*They (the beneficiary) are trained in-house in life-skills, independent living, professional skills, and work oriented skills, while we identify their dream, strengths and abilities.
*We actually go in and learn the Job on-site ourselves (get our hands dirty, per say) before training the clients ourselves, thus delivering a trained asset with no strain on the company’s own resources.
*Subsequently we offer long-term support to our beneficiary so, should any situations arise, we are only a phone call away to assist them and /or the employer. (Things are always changing and we are there to help when necessary).
While between Training and employment the young people are kept busy with several different programs.
From 2018 we are very excited to be able to offer Academic upskilling. Using an accredited home-schooling based program we have a pilot group that will be expanding their academic horizons!!
The Training of Employment Specialists (Job Coaches) is paramount to the expansion of CCC. Close to 400 children in Cape Town alone exit specialised education schools annually. In order to get maximum exposure to unemployed young Adults with Intellectual Disabilities, there is a great need to train job coaches out of the communities and send them back to do our training right there, in their community. We are also then encouraging job creation.
Awareness Programs - Awareness is of the essence for us as there are potential beneficiaries of our services everywhere. In all communities and in all walks of life. With a 1 in 20 ratio, every Company that has more than 20 employees, probably has at least one parent who is wondering what will happen to their child with an intellectual disability when they leave the safety of School, or they themselves have a “hidden” disability that they are too scared to talk about!
