Let's talk about type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is an impairment in the way the body regulates and uses sugar (glucose) as a fuel.
Eventually, high blood sugar levels can lead to disorders of the circulatory, nervous and immune systems. There are two factors that are at play here, firstly, the pancreas doesn't create enough insulin and secondly, the cells respond poorly to the lack of insulin.
This type of diabetes is more common in adults but can occur in children.
While there is no cure,
🍏 Eating healthy foods. Choose foods lower in fat and calories and higher in fiber. Focus on fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
