High Cholesterol complications; Heart attack

High levels of Cholesterol in the arteries supplying your heart muscle with oxygen can eventually lead to a complete blockage of the artery.

When this happens, the heart loses its supply of oxygen, this can lead to death of the heart muscle supplied by that artery, this is what is called a heart attack. Symptoms of a heart attack are pain in the chest, pain spreading to the left arm as well as sweating and nausea.

Heart attacks can be prevented, by controlling your cholesterol levels.

High Cholesterol effects in the brain; Stroke.
Symptoms of stroke:

A stroke will cause these symptoms according to which portion and side of the brain has lost blood supply.

The most recognisable symptoms of a stroke are one-sided facial drooping, arm and leg weakness and loss of sense of touch. A stroke can also cause difficulty speaking and blurred vision.

Decreasing your cholesterol levels is one of the major ways you can decrease the risk of stroke and it's after-effects.

Stroke/CVA (Cerebrovascular accident).

A stroke or CVA is the process where part of the brain loses it's blood supply and is deprived of oxygen. This can lead to the death of that part of the brain.

There are two types of strokes; one caused by a burst artery, and one caused by high cholesterol.

High cholesterol in the arteries in the brain can form a plaque in the artery that then can cause a complete blockage by a blood clot.
